When Writing Articles is Not Enough
6th April 2006
Writing articles is an integral and vital part of web promotion. It is a major step which intends to drive traffic towards the website. The articles will be the primary tools used in making the website known. Good articles help promote the website in many ways. Here are some of them.
- A useful and attractively-written article published on another website, ezine, or newsletter will make its readers more curious. They will most probably follow the link to the website which is mentioned in the article.
- A web page with an interesting and engagingly-written article about a topic will be ranked high in directories and in search engines. These directories and search engines are using people to read and evaluate the articles. Consequently, traffic will be driven towards the website.
- If a website is steeped with authoritative and well-researched articles, the website will be known as the website to consult for reliable and complete information. The visitors, after exploring and soaking in the knowledge from the website, will return again and again. These visitors, by word of mouth, will recommend the informative website to their friends.
In many cases, such is the truth. But having the articles is not enough. Writing useful, engaging, and well-researched articles may not help in effectively promoting the website, especially if the name or link of the website was never found in the body of the articles.
This is why the articles must contain sentences that will promote the website. The articles must help in the promoting and selling. Otherwise, the visitors will just read the articles, and then leave the website. Such will not generate income for the website.
Simply placing the link of the website beside the writer’s name in the byline is not an effective method in promoting the website. The reason for this is that many readers or visitors ignore the byline. Again, the visitors will read the articles, and then leave, without seeing the link to the website.
Articles that will sell the products or services of the website must be well-planned and must be suitable to the business offered by website. For example, if the website is all about the products of painting, the article may discuss the various types of paint brushes. And then, the article may mention that the reader can find excellent paint brushes sold in the website.
If one of the purposes of the website is to establish relationship with potential clients, then the contents of the article must mention free e-books or free newsletter. This will make the readers enter their emails and sign-up. And, consequently, this will help the website owner keep in touch with his clients or prospects.
