Learning about Web Development Step by Step

23rd June 2006

A lot of people feel daunted about learning web development by their lonesome because of its seeming complexity as it requires you to familiarize yourself with a number of computer languages and memorize a whole lot of codes. But remember, when nothing’s ventured, nothing shall be gained so if you feel that having web development skills is a great asset to possess then why not give it a try first before throwing your hands up in surrender right away?

Okay, here’s the bad thing about web development: it’s truly difficult AT TIMES to understand. But here’s the good news about web development: even though web development may be sometimes difficult indeed to learn, if you try tackling your web development lessons STEP BY STEP, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t gain web development skills in the near future.

When learning web development, the crucial thing to remember is that you can’t absorb everything in one sitting. How do you tear down a castle all by yourself? You take it down one brick at a time. You have to apply the same process to web development. Concentrate on one lesson at a time. It may be so tempting to learn as much as you can in an hour as you’re eager to apply it to your website but trust me, whatever you’ve learned wouldn’t last simply because you didn’t take the time to master it.

And now that you know about the importance of studying web development step by step, let’s proceed with some learning tips so that you’ll be able to start building your own website as soon as possible.

Where to Start
When I’m asking about where you want to start with your web development lessons, it simply means which software program you’re interested in using as you learn about web development. You see, the way things work in one software program is not necessarily how it would work with another software program. Also, the difficulty in learning web development often lies on the user-friendliness of the software program you’re using.

When choosing a software program to use, choose one that would only require you to press one function key to insert a table rather than one that would require you to go through a long process of entering codes.

How to Start
There are a lot of free tutorials available online for whatever software program and computer language you’re trying to learn. These tutorials are composed of web development lessons that are strategically arranged. It’s imperative that you follow the order rather than jump to what only interests you. Remember, they wouldn’t have included the lessons in the first place if they weren’t necessary!
